Tomo, the sustainable department store, approached Imagebuilders with a clear ambition: to bring their new retail concept to life. The kick-off for this adventure would take place in Mall of The Netherlands, with the opening of a large multi-brand store. Because they lacked knowledge and experience in retail, they were looking for a partner who was not only well-versed in store design, but also had a proven focus on sustainability. Their dream: a high-quality shopping environment in which sustainability is not just a promise, but is visible and tangible in every detail, from the use of recycled and reused materials to the careful finishing.
From the outset, we took a multidisciplinary approach to the project. We contributed ideas on design, materialization, budget, and realization, with one important principle in mind: getting the most out of the available resources and budget.
The result was a series of custom-made furniture and interior elements, manufactured with sustainable or reused materials. Even in our own workshop, we actively searched for usable residual materials and parts. The customer contributed to this process and visited our production facility to jointly determine which materials could be given a second life.
